I don't plan meetings... but I have to say, ASAE 2008 in San Diego was great. With Omaha Rocks showcasing guitar hero in the Expo hall it was like a rock concert (except I'd prefer to not hear, "hit me with your best shot" ever again). The social media education and networking was also great.

About Me:
Professionally:
I've been with Omnipress since 1995 (a long time!) I started as a Manager, then pioneered Omnipress into the digital media world. They liked me a lot... so they got me into sales and product development. Over the past 5 years, I have taken over our marketing and love it!

I really enjoy the meetings world and think associations are a great thing. I feel we're all striving to bring intelligent people to share information to make this a better, more informed world.

Personally:
I coach the UW Women’s Club Hockey team and enjoy spending time with my wife and two young daughters. And yes, my oldest has been on skates since age three.

I also dedicate my time to the Arthritis Foundation helping to support the Arthritis Walk event (my youngest daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at just 15 months).
I am a member of:
Was with HSMAI. A few of us (at Omnipress) are ASAE and MPI members.

Conference 2.0 – Why It’s Needed

More than ever, I am totally convinced that the Omnipress Conference 2.0™ solution is ripe for any conference (large or small). I say this not just to promote our new service, but because it really makes sense.

My Conference 2.0™ ah-hah moment happened while attending a one-day seminar on Social Media Strategies that covered everything from blogs to creating a social media strategy to using twitter.

The conference was located… Continue

Survey on the Use of Social Tecnologies for Conferences

As you know, the use of social media like Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others is rapidly growing among members of many associations, but what are associations thinking about using social media for conferences?

Would it enhance networking, strengthen education and increase engagement at their conferences? How would social technologies bring value to the attendees before, during and after the conference? What tools would your organization need to launch these initiatives?

We are gathering data… Continue

Justifying Going to a Conference

You know attendees love your events - just look back at the comments! But this year more than ever before, you're unsure that they’ll be able to convince their employers to bear the expense.

I hate to say it, but you have a reason to be worried. Association executives have been citing downturns in attendance for the past year, and the economy hasn’t picked up enough yet to change the trend.… Continue

In a Tough Economy, Attendance Drops Even at Free Events!
