- I'll never forget the speaker who, while at the lectern preparing notes for his presentation, answered a cell phone call and proceeded to have a personal conversation... at the microphone (which was on)... in front of the audience that was filing in... Suffice to say, we all learned a lot about his child's after-school activities that day.

I worked previously as the editor of Midwest Meetings® magazine, overseeing all print and online content. Prior to that, I was the editor of a regional weekly newspaper chain based in Rapid City, SD. I have also worked as a freelance writer and editor. In my spare time, I write fiction and maintain a website for other fiction writers.
Back in the day, I started out as a member of the South Dakota National Guard, 153rd Engr Bn, stationed in Madison, SD, where I worked as an administrative personnel clerk. Later, I attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and I have worked for publication ever since!
