Triumphant Winner of the Tourism “Oscars”
Lisbon Takes Three World Travel Awards
Lisbon was the triumphant winner of the World Travel Awards (WTA), the world’s most prestigious tourism awards, by winning the prizes for the Best European Destination, the Best City Breaks Destination and the Best Cruise Ship Destination.
These awards were announced at the 16th WTA award ceremony held in Óbidos and were given to António Pereira, the president of the Convention Bureau of Turismo de Lisboa, by Kevin Taylor, the vice president of WTA.
Hotel Praia D´El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort staged this year’s event and also won in the category for Best European Golf and Leisure Resort.
The winners are now on the list of nominees for the WTA grand finale to take place on November 8 at the JW Marriott Hotel Grosvenor House in London.
The World Travel Awards were selected through online voting at www.worldtravelawards.com by thousands of tourism professionals worldwide.
